White Water Rafting

This sport takes place on white-water or another form of rough water. Participants are sat on an inflatable raft which they have to move through the water, rafts can generally hold from 4 to 12 people. The element of rough water is to make the experience thrilling for the rafters.

Through out the challenge the rafters will come up against a series of several graded areas, these grades go from a class 1 grade up to a class 6 grade, with class 6 being the most dangerous, with only experienced rafters being able to take them on.

Rapid Classes;

- A class one rapid, is made up of mainly fast moving water.

- A class two rapid, fast moving water which requires navigation to get through as there are normally rocks which the raft will have to pass through.

- A class three rapid, are narrower with larger waves, good boat control and rapid experience will get through a class 3 rapid.

- A class four rapid, contains much larger waves and a lot more pressure. Rafters need to be able to move the raft through the rapid quickly.

- A class 5 rapid, not only will rafters face the largest waves yet but also large drops.

- A class 6 rapid, only to be hit by those who are experts in white water rafting, these rapids contain large waves, large drops and large rocks with some being almost impossible to rescue people from!
