Snowboarding

Snowboarding can be seen as a mixture of surfing, skateboarding and skiing, the sport involves a person travelling down a slope covered by snow on a board. With the development of snowboarding it has since become a Winter Olympic sport and has several styles to it.

One of these styles is called freestyle, this however doesn't take part on snow surfaces, Freestyle allows the boarder to ride on any surfaces available for example rails, boxes etc, which they are able to do tricks on. A box' merely means a flat surface which allows these ticks to happen, all of which come in different classes of difficulty. One particular trick which takes place in free styling is known as the jib' this is when a boarder does a press or slide on an object other than snow, these objects can vary from rails to boxes.

Another of these styles, and the most popular form of snowboarding is known as freeride, this is when a person either rides down any surface they can, not just snow which makes it similar to freestyle riding. However freeriding also tends to take place on snow also, therefore the equipment used is different to that used for freestyle as freeriding, can take place of very different snow conditions.

There are a wide range of popular snowboarding events that take place all around the world. One of the most famous freestyling events is called the 'Ticket to Ride World Snowboard Tour' which is also known as 'TTR' which has the largest amount of freestyle participant's competiting against one another. At the end of the competition both the top male snowboarder and top women snowboarder are crowned the 'Ticket to Ride World Tour Champion'.
