Bungee Jump

Is a sport which takes place from either a fixed object such as a bridge or a moving object such as a helicopter. The sport involves the participant jumping from the structure with an elastic cord around them. The thrill comes both from the feeling of free-falling but also from the pull back from the cord which allows the participant to bounce up and down.

The bungee rope is made out of a factory produce braided shock cord, which contains latex cords bound together to make a tough outer cover, this then allows the rope to have a shaper and harder bounce. However some cords are made up of unbraided cords which allow the latex to be exposed as this allows the bounce to be longer.

When the bungee first came about it was simply applied by the ankle, however due to cases of this attachment becoming loose, people are also now required to wear a body harness for extra safety.

One of the largest bungee jumps is the Verzasca Dam located in the south of Switzerland which is 720 foot long. This bungee jump is particularly popular not only for the serer size of it but also due its famous background, being the bungee jump that James Bond jumped down in GoldenEye'!

Another well known bungee jump is The Nile High Bungee in Uganda, not only is it 140 metres off the ground but it also over the famous River Nile which allows its jumpers not only an extremely long drop but also the choice of a dip in the Nile as they bounce. The Nile High Bungee also has a few famous fans including Prince William!
